Kingston lays out its USB 3.0 roadmap, promises entry level flash drives soon
The USB 3.0 standard was introduced quite a while back, but manufacturers have taken quite a while integrating it into their offerings, whether in the form of motherboard support or actual hardware ports. Kingston Digital Inc., one of the premier flash memory and storage product manufacturers in the world, had introduced its first USB 3.0 flash drives quite a while back, and now, when the technology is finally nearly commonplace on newer machines, has announced a roadmap of future USB 3.0 devices.

Kingston was amongst the first to bring USB 3.0 flash drives into the market, with their DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 and HyperX MAX 3.0 external USB flash drives, launched earlier in 2010. And now, as the first product on their roadmap for the year, have introduced the DataTraveler HyperX 3.0, which will serve as their flagship model and be part of their HyperXperience line, a family of high-performance Kingston Flash products that will include SSDs, USBs and cards, to complement HyperX enthusiast memory modules.
While this will be a high-end product, expect entry-level single-chip controller USB 3.0 flash drives from Kingston by Q2/Q3 of 2011, available in the DataTraveller DTU30 brand, in 16, 32, and 64GB capacities.
