The JioTV and Disney+ Hotstar merger is in its last leg.
A new JioStar website is here, and it has shut down all the controversy and chaos.
We all know about the merger of JioTV and Disney+ Hotstar but I am sure most of you know about this merger thanks to the website takeover that had happened. For those unaware, a developer from Delhi bought the “Jiohotstar” domain. They had anticipated that after the JioTV and Disney+ Hotstar merger, the combined entity could be called Jio Hotstar. They then asked Reliance to buy the domain from them in exchange for money to support their dream of studying at Cambridge. Cut to two kids from Dubai bought the domain and there was a lot of chaos that ensued, including legal notices. Amidst all of that Reliance has pulled out the ace card from its pocket.
The JioTV and Disney+ Hotstar merger is in its last leg and ahead of that Reliance has launched a website for the combined entity called “JioStar”. With this, the company has indirectly told everyone that they don’t play games. A new website is here, and it has shut down all the controversy, chaos, and attempts to sell out the “Jiohotstar” domain. The Jio Star website recently went live, although there’s no content on the website yet, it displays a “Coming Soon” message.
If reports are to be believed, the official merger of Reliance Jio’s Viacom18 and Disney Star is set to conclude this week. The services from the new Jio Star platform can go live by November 14. As per tech enthusiast Abhishek Yadav, Jio Star will be the new combined destination for streaming content from both platforms. However, IPL streaming, which brings in the most money, will remain exclusive to Disney+ Hotstar for now.
Reliance is yet to formally announce the website. Let’s see when it launches with the combined content library and how the two kids from Dubai react to this news.
