Along with the products, Reliance also announced that it will be establishing its battery gigafactory in India by 2026. This factory will specifically cater to electric vehicles (EVs) and will also have a battery recycling unit too. This gigafactory will be a part of the Dhirubhai Green Energy Giga Complex at Jamnagar, Gujarat. The factory will take care of all end to end processes starting from battery materials to cells, to packs and Battery Management Systems (BMS) — and deliver “safe and reliable” batteries with “high energy density” and “fast charging capabilities”.
During the AGM, Ambani also announced the Jio Bharat Phone. With this Reliance says that they want to redefine the market and end users dependency on age old 2G phones. This super affordable 4G phone is priced at just ₹999, which is a competitive pricing. You can watch movies, stream music and even make digital payments on this phone. It comes with a small 1.77 inch display, 0.3MP camera and a 1000mAh battery. It has an expandable memory of up to 128GB. The Jio Bharat Phone is made in partnership with Karbonn.
The phone went on sale today August 28th, 2023.
