iOS 19 might be Apple’s biggest update in years with a heavy AI focus

iOS 19 may introduce a glassy, floating UI design inspired by VisionOS.
Siri will get major upgrades with personal context, onscreen awareness, and deeper app integration.
AI-powered features like AirPods Live Translate and Health coaching are expected.
Apple intends to introduce iOS 19 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). It could be the company’s largest software update, with visual and functional changes to the iOS since the iOS 7 redesign. For the uninitiated, the company released iOS 7 during internal leadership changes and offered some massive design changes. After more than a decade, Apple is now planning to release transformational updates that will change the visual and functional aspects of the iPhone with a major focus on AI.
The iOS 7 update introduced a dramatic visual shift, but the way users interacted with their iPhones remained largely unchanged. However, with iOS 19, Apple may introduce significant functional changes as a result of the interaction model and Apple Intelligence.
While there is no official confirmation of what Apple’s upcoming software update will include, here is what we do know.

- Siri updates
First and foremost, Apple’s smart Siri, which was originally scheduled to launch with iOS 18, may now debut with iOS 19. Apple has already stated that it intends to make Siri more intelligent, personalised, and capable of understanding user context better. To accomplish this, it will include key enhancements such as personal context, on-screen awareness, deeper app integration, and more.
Personal Context: With this, Siri will be able to track emails, messages, photos, and other personal data to assist users more effectively.
Onscreen Awareness: Siri will recognise content displayed on the iPhone screen and take action accordingly.
Deeper App Integration: Siri will gain expanded control over Apple apps and third-party services, allowing for more advanced task automation.
- Siri LLM
If the reports are to be believed, Apple is developing a large language model-based Siri, similar to ChatGPT and Gemini. Siri’s next generation will be more advanced, capable of engaging in human-like conversations, answering complex questions, and more. According to reports, the tech giant is currently testing LLM Siri internally, but due to development setbacks, the launch could be delayed by a year. It was originally scheduled to debut at WWDC 2025, but it has now been pushed back to iOS 20. So, for now, Apple may have to rely on improved ChatGPT integration, at least for this year.
- Features
The iOS 19 update is expected to include new features such as AirPods Live Translate, Health app updates with AI-powered coaching features, Expert Video Guidance, Food Tracking, and others.
- VisionOS inspired design
iOS 19 is said to bring a glassy, floating design inspired by visionOS, with more rounded, translucent UI elements. It may also include a redesigned Camera and Messages app, featuring pop-out menus and glowing buttons.
