Intel announces Intel Foundry, focusing on AI and sustainability initiatives

Intel Foundry is a sustainable systems foundry business that majorly focuses on AI.

It is an effort to enhance its chip manufacturing capabilities and at the same time to prioritise sustainability. 

Intel also plans on working on more innovative solutions and product offerings.

With artificial intelligence being the breakthrough technology we’ve seen in the past couple of years, the world seems to be revolving around it. All the tech companies are now trying to match feet with each other and trying to ace the AI game. With that thought in mind, Intel has announced its Intel Foundry. This is a sustainable systems foundry business that majorly focuses on AI. Let’s see what Intel has up its sleeve.

The inaugural event was attended by S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, Arm CEO Rene Haas, Open AI CEO Sam Altman, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, and others. The Intel Foundry basically is an effort on Intel’s end to enhance its chip manufacturing capabilities and at the same time to prioritise sustainability.

Intel Foundry AI

Along with this, Intel also shared its roadmap for the coming future which reflected how it plans on staying the industry leader. The plans included Intel 14A as well as specialised node evolutions which maintain its commitment to the ambitious five-nodes-in-four-years (5N4Y) plan.

Further, Intel also plans on working on more innovative solutions and product offerings. This will include the industry’s first backside power solution with Intel 18A by 2025. Alongside this, the tech company will engage in advancements in Intel 3, Intel 18A, and Intel 14A process technologies that help take into consideration the diverse needs of customers. This will also include Intel 3-T optimised for 3D advanced packaging.

Intel Foundry AI

With all the plans, Intel wishes not to compromise on sustainability. The tech giant aims at 100% renewable electricity, net-positive water, and zero waste to landfills by 2030.
