Proud news for countrymen as the Indian Army is upgrading its infantry with state-of-the-art arms, ammunition, and aids. This future soldier project is called F-INSAS (Futuristic Infantry Soldier as a System) and it has been in the works for quite some time now. And finally, today, an F-INSAS solder presented the weapons system he is equipped with. The briefing was attended by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande, and Chief of Engineering Indian Army, Lt. Gen. Harpal Singh.

F-INSAS: Indian Army’s Futuristic Infantry Soldier
Indian Army is coming up with its own indigenously developed future soldiers program that goes by the acronym F-INSAS. This stands for Futuristic Infantry Soldier as a System. It equips the infantry soldiers with cutting-edge wear and gear.
In today’s presentation, we get to see what an F-INSAS soldier looks like with all his/her attire and arms. The weaponry includes an AK-203 assault rifle with a 300mtr range for attacking, a ballistic helmet, goggles, a bullet-proof jacket, elbow pads, and knee pads for survivability. The bullet-proof jacket is said to withstand and protect against weapons like AK-47. Then, there’s also holographic sight (200mtr) on the rifles and night vision scope for accessibility. There are headsets for wireless communication too.

At the event, Rajnath Singh handed over Nipun, the anti-personnel landmine, Landing Craft Attack for operations in Pangong lake, infantry combat vehicles, etc to the Indian Army.
While speaking at the event, Lt Gen Harpal Singh said, “I assure on behalf of the Army chief that the Indian Army is prepared to tackle any threat whether it is western desert or the high altitude locations in Ladakh sector”.
