ICOTY 2025 contenders announced: Maruti Suzuki Swift, MG Windsor and Mahindra Thar Roxx among others
The contenders for the 20th edition of the ICOTY (Indian Car of the Year) award showcase a diverse range of vehicles from leading automakers.
Among the prominent names are the Mahindra Thar Roxx, the five-door variant of the popular Thar SUV, and the Maruti Suzuki Swift.
The finalists have been selected by 20 esteemed judges from prominent publications including Times Drive.
Journalists from over fifteen of India’s leading automobile publications met at the Buddh International Circuit(BIC) to evaluate the best new car launches from the year 2024.
The contenders for the 20th edition of the ICOTY (Indian Car of the Year) award showcase a diverse range of vehicles from leading automakers. Among the prominent names are the Mahindra Thar Roxx, the five-door variant of the popular Thar SUV, and the Maruti Suzuki Swift, a perennial favourite in the compact hatchback segment and a car that has won the award multiple times previously.
Additionally, the MG Windsor EV, an anticipated MPV, has garnered attention with its spacious design and modern features and has been in the limelight for its Battery-As-A-Service(BAAS) buying option.
These models, along with other contenders like the BYD Seal, Tata Curvv and new Mercedes E-class along with BMW’s new 5-series represent the latest advancements in automotive technology, design, and performance, making the upcoming ICOTY 2025 award race an exciting one.
The finalists have been selected by 20 esteemed judges from prominent publications including Times Drive. The jury members have previously driven all these cars through the year but got a chance to re-evaluate them at the BIC’s facility. The jury members voted in secret for their choice of contender. The final results will be declared on January 10, 2025.
17 cars and SUVs are gunning for the top spot, of which 8 premium cars are in the fray. Here’s a rundown of the shortlisted candidates for the Premium Car Award 2025 including the Mercedes EQS SUV, Kia Carnival, as well as the BMW M5 among others.
For 2025, the jury has unveiled the contenders vying for the Green Car of the Year title. These eco-friendly nominees are a mix of SUVs and sedans, highlighting the growing diversity of sustainable options in the market. Among them a few popular choices like the BYD Seal, Mini Countryman EV AND Tata Curvv EV among others.
