HTTPX, an event for web devs, comes to Delhi on Sept 12
HTTPX is an event catering towards web developers and designers eyeing this new online boom.
The World Wide Web is fast becoming an incredibly intense part of our lives – cliched but true. Don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what Google claims: India has 12 crore Internet users (as per 2012), expected to reach 30 crore by 2015; India has 5 crore mobile Internet users currently and everyone who has access to the web spent about Rs. 30,000 crore on ecommerce in all. HTTPX is an event catering towards web developers and designers eyeing this new online boom.
Organized by BigRock, the popular online domain registration and web hosting solution provider, HTTPX is an effort to connect budding web developers not only with each other but to leading Indian companies and individuals who’re doing cool new things on the web. There are absolutely no entry fees (though you need to confirm your registration online) and you’re encouraged to bring your laptops and tablets to the event. There are a few on-the-spot contests to participate in and cool prizes to win (Google Nexus 4, Samsung Galaxy TABs, and more), too. Of course, there’s free food as well.
We attended the Mumbai leg of HTTPX last week and were pleased to find close to 200 web developers and enthusiasts turn up – and BigRock certainly didn’t disappoint. The schedule had distinguished speakers from Google, Cleartrip, Myntra, Flipkart – no business heads, but nuts and bolts guys responsible for web UI, design, coding, etc. – talking about best practices, problem areas and exploring opportunities in the field of web development. We also got an exclusive interview with Bhavin Thurakia, Founder, BigRock (more on that later), so stay tuned.
Some of the tracks and sessions that took place for the Mumbai are going to be repeated at HTTPX’s Delhi event viz.
