HP to launch Amazon Web Services competitor in a couple of months

According to a New York Times report, HP will soon be launching a cloud computing service for enterprises, one that will apparently be poised to compete directly with Amazon Web Services, as well as other enterprise offerings from IBM, and Oracle.

The report quotes HP Senior VP and General Manager, Zorawar Singh, who said the HP’s cloud computing service is in beta, and will be able to provide developer tools, including those for popular web languages.

The service, which as a platform will actively support third-party services as a differentiator from Amazon Web Services, will reportedly be launched within the next couple of months. Instead of self-service, HP’s offering will feature personalized sales services.

Of course, combining the service with HP’s recent relevant acquisitions, such as Vertica and Autonomy, will provide enterprises and developers useful analytical and management tools, on the company’s Next Generation Information Platform (NGIP). The report also indicates that HP will be opening small data centers across the world.
