HP Slate 7 dual-core Android tablet to arrive in India soon: Reports

According to reports, HP is ready to launch the Slate 7 affordable tablet in India, a device that boasts of Android Jelly Bean 4.1 OS and a dual-core processor.

HP has released a host of devices in the past week including the Slatebook x2, Envy Rove20, Split x2, Envy TouchSmart 14 and Pavilion 11 TouchSmart. Now the company is also ready to launch its Slate 7 tablet in the Indian market, according to reports.

Ketan Patel, Director Consumer Product Category, HP PPS India, stated that the 7-inch tablet, which has been launched worldwide, will be reaching the Indian audiences very soon. However, he didn’t reveal the exact launch date or the price of the tablet in India.

The HP 7 Slate has a 7-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen display with 600 x 1024 pixels display resolution. It has a High-aperture-ratio Field Fringe Switching (HFFS) display panel that HP claims offers wide viewing angles even outdoors in bright sunlight. It supports Wi-Fi, DLNA and Bluetooth v2.0 for connectivity. The tablet has a 3.15MP rear camera and a front-facing VGA camera for video chatting.

The tablet comes with 8GB internal memory expandable up to 32GB via MicroSD card slot and Beats Audio speakers. The tablet runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, a dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor and has a 3500 mAh battery that according to the company lasts up to 5 hours with continuous video playback.

Recently HP had slashed the price of the Slate 7 in the US to $140 which is approximately Rs 8,340 in India. The tablet competes with Google’s Nexus 7 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 211 as well as a plethora of other budget tablets in India.
