Now you have the right to repair your mobile phones, electronics and other devices from third-party shops without losing your warranty. The Right to Repair portal in India was launched in December, last year. Here’s how to use this website to get the contact details of the consumer support contact details and know the warranty specifics of the product.
1. You can visit the Right to Repair website here. On the homepage, the various product categories covered by the Right to Repair portal in India are highlighted. These are Farming Equipment, Mobile/Electronics Displays/ data storage components, consumer durables, and automobile equipment.
2. You can either click on the brand names listed on the homepage or click on the Customer Care tab on the top menu bar and then select Mobiles, followed by the brand name.
3. Currently, for instance, Samsung has listed the Galaxy S23/S23+, Galaxy Z, and Galaxy A on this portal.
4. Suppose, we click on the Galaxy A, and you will see clickable links for the product details and product registration details under the Basic Information section.
Under Product Information, you can get external links to get warranty information, terms and conditions of the warranty.
There is a dedicated section showing the customer support phone number, email address and hours of operation.
Under the Service Details section, you can grab details about the Authorized Service Centers, Repair Manuals, and Recognized Multi-brand Stores/Centers.
You can also check important website links related to right-to-repair here.
At present, we see mobile phone and accessories brands like Apple, Samsung, Oppo, and BoAt. Hopefully, more brands will enlist soon.
The government believes the portal will allow the consumers “a chance to repair their products at an optimal cost instead of buying new products altogether”.
