Jeff Bezos not only founded the e-commerce giant Amazon in 1994 but he also served as the CEO of Amazon for the longest time. But he eventually stepped down and currently holds the position of Executive Chairman. In a recent interview, Bezos revealed why he stepped down as the CEO of Amazon and where he spends his time this day, building which businesses.
In an interview given to YouTuber Tim Dodd, Bezos revealed that he left his job as the CEO at Amazon after nearly 30 years. He said that he has now shifted focus. Bezos is more invested in Blue Origin now and that’s the major reason why he stepped down as the CEO. He said, “The primary reason I left my role as CEO of Amazon was to focus on Blue Origin”.
He shared that it is not like he is completely ignoring Amazon now, he is pretty much involved with them but it is mostly on the AI side now. He said, “I’m still very involved in Amazon, mostly on the AI side, but Blue is really where I’m putting the vast majority of my productive efforts.”
He further added that at this point in his life, he is working harder than he ever has. His motive is to make space travel more affordable and accessible. He plans to reduce the cost of flying to the moon by a factor of 100. He thinks that only once space travel is made accessible will we get to see new innovations in that sector.
