Graphics cards for Adobe After Effects

Graphics cards for Adobe After Effects

When looking at creative workloads using some of the most popular creative software solutions on the planet, we find the processor to be the most important factor in accelerating your pipeline. The amount of RAM needed varies on the basis of the texture quality and length of the clips that you’re working on. And the GPU helps in accelerating certain VFX filters and effects. Here are the optimal GPUs that you can get to speed that up. Obviously, you can spend more money and get the absolute best but the law of diminishing returns always applies.

RTX 2080 Ti

Of course, there are the TITAN class cards but the performance delta between the RTX TITAN and the RTX 2080 Ti in Adobe After Effects is very less making it illogical to get the RTX TITAN by shelling out a lot more money. The RTX 2080 Ti performs just as good and you might perhaps save on a few seconds. Honestly, it’s a lot more expensive than the other cards in this list but if you want the best consumer card then this is it.

RTX 2070 Super

Your next choice would be the RTX 2070 Super. There’s the RTX 2080 Super as well as the vanilla RTX 2080 between the 2080 Ti and the RTX 2070 Super but they don’t bring about that much of a difference over the RTX 2070 Super. Neither is the RTX 2070 significantly ahead in performance but given that production of the RTX 2070 has been stopped, you will not find those cards anymore.

RTX 2060 Super

Then there’s the RTX 2060 Super which is a decent upgrade over the vanilla RTX 2060 and is the bare minimum from NVIDIA’s stable that you should opt for. Compared to the RTX 2070 Super, it’s way cheaper and only a little slower. In fact, there are very few benchmarks where the RTX 2070 Super beats the RTX 2060 Super by a wide margin. However, there is a significant delta between the RTX 2060 Super and the vanilla RTX 2060.

Radeon RX 5700 XT

Then there’s the Radeon RX 5700 XT from AMD that not only has 8 GB of GDDR6 VRAM but is also comparable to the NVIDIA cards in terms of performance. There’s the Vega64 as well as the Radeon VII from Team Red but the RX 5700 XT has the benefit of higher clock speeds and there’s the fact that it’s a newer architecture.
