HIGHLIGHTS

The Google easter egg has Thanos snap his fingers to wipe away search results.

While on the surface, it serves as a cool easter egg, the snap targets spoiler-laden posts of the movie.

Are you looking for more ways to get over the fact that a decade of building up to Avengers: Endgame is now over? Google has you covered. Simply search Thanos in Google Search and look for the Infinity Gauntlet on the right sidebar where the basic information about the Mad Titan is given. Click on the gauntlet to see an all-familiar effect take place. 50 percent of the search result fade away to dust.

The Google easter egg has Thanos snap his fingers to wipe away search results, just like he wiped away half the population of the universe in a snap in Avengers: Infinity War.
Google even shows the total number of results that vanish after the snap.

Thankfully, it’s just code and text that gets dusted away, and not humans.

An Avengers: Endgame spoiler guard?

While on the surface, it serves as a cool easter egg, the snap targets spoiler-laden posts of the movie. By the end of it, you only end up with results about the easter-egg itself. The movie itself was leaked online, four minutes of it, enough to put fans into high alert. As a result, the easter egg serves a higher purpose, just like Thanos’ snap in the movie. Google wants a spoiler-free internet and Thanos wanted a world where people lived happy. Who was right? It depends on where you stand.
