Google had an embarrassing moment during its much-hyped Made by Google event as its powerful AI model, Gemini failed to provide the desired result during a live demo. Unfortunately for Google, the model failed not once but twice while trying to perform a task during the live streaming of the event. This is despite the fact that Google is hyping Gemini as the most powerful AI model till now. It even started Tuesday’s Made By Google event by talking about Gemini and showcasing its new capabilities.
However, when Google was demonstrating Gemini’s integration within the Calendar app, it failed to provide the information asked. Instead, it just went back to the initial prompt and asked the user to enter the details again. This happened twice during the event and bunch of social media users were quick to notice it as well.
“I’m watching the #MadeByGoogle keynote right now and I’m cringing so hard. Their demos are all sketchy and the production is so basic. Poor guy that just had the Gemini demo fail on him live,” one said.
“The Gemini Advanced demo almost failed during the live show, but “demo spirits” saved it at the last minute lol. Pixel 9 Pro looks good and Gemini Advanced is the heart of the Android phone rn,” another one posted on X.
While the error was completely unexpected, Google used the stage to unveil Gemini Live, a mobile conversational experience that lets you have free-flowing conversations with Gemini. It allows users to ask Gemini to find new jobs for them, they can also interrupt it and have real-world conversations and more. Google said that Gemini Live can be used even when your phone is locked. It starts rolling out for all Google users starting today in English and in the coming weeks, will make its way to iOS and more languages.
