12 more Indian cities will feature real-time traffic updates on Google Maps.

Google has announced that Maps’ real-time traffic updates is rolling out to 12 more cities in India, including Coimbatore, Lucknow, Surat, Indore, Ludhiana, Visakhapatnam, Nagpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Thirvuvanthapuram, Bhopal and Madurai.

"We are constantly working on making Google Maps a more comprehensive, daily tool for Indians and we hope that this new real-time traffic information for 12 cities and all national highways will help drivers across the country find the best routes to their destinations with the fewest delays," said Suren Rahela, Director, Program Management at Google

This means that Maps covers a total of 34 cities and all national highways for traffic updates. If the real-time traffic setting is turned on, users will be able to see colour-coded lines over roads, indicating traffic. Green means no traffic, Orange means moderate traffic and Red means heavy traffic. This feature is available on both the Maps Apps and the Web App. With real-time traffic information, commuters can choose the least congested routes to reach their destination faster.
