Google+ introduces custom URLs; adds Studio Mode to Hangouts on Air

Google is leaving no stone unturned to make its social networking website Google , as good as other the two popular and dominant networking sites – Facebook and Twitter. Google has of late received a spate of updates, ranging from new exciting features to deeper integration with other Google products. And now, Google is now offering custom URLs to profiles and pages, similar to the vanity URLs provided by Facebook and Twitter.

Google ‘s custom URLs is currently available to a limited number of ‘verified’ profiles and pages. The service, however, will be soon rolled out to more brands and individuals. Google revealed that few celebrities such as David Beckham and pop singer Britney Spears, along with brands like Toyota, Delta, and Hugo Boss have already received the custom URLs.

“Your Google profile is a place for you to share your passions with the millions of people who come to Google each day…Today we’re introducing custom URLs to make it even easier for people to find your profile on Google . A custom URL is a short, easy to remember web address that links directly to your profile or page on Google ,” says Google product manager Saurabh Sharma in a blog post.

Google believes the custom URLs will make it easier to find profiles on Google .

In a Google related news, Google announced the launch of a new audio setting for hangouts, Studio Mode. The new feature is said to enhance sound specifically for music.

“Since we launched Google a little over a year ago, we’ve seen a thriving community of musicians connect with fans in really cool ways,” Google product manager Matthew Leske wrote in a blog post today. “In particular: singer/songwriters like Daria Musk, bands like Suite 709, and many others are using Hangouts On Air to perform live for global audiences, and jam with fans face-to-face.”
