Today, Google made a big announcement by unveiling its new AI model, Gemini. It is the first AI multimodal in the Gemini lineup, which comes in three sizes. This includes Gemini Ultra, Gemini Pro, and Gemini Nano. Gemini Ultra is the most powerful model of this series, achieving 90% in the Massive Multitask Language Understanding benchmark. The last highest score was 86.5% by OpenAI’s GPT 4 AI model. Gemini Ultra will launch with ‘Bard Advanced’ in early 2024. Speaking of the other two models, Gemini Nano has been built for on-device tasks. It is now available in Google’s latest flagship smartphone, the Pixel 8 Pro. Whereas, Gemini Pro has been integrated into Bard and is now ready to use. Here’s how you can use it.

How to use Gemini

Firstly, let’s talk about Gemini Pro. As mentioned above, it is ready to use through Bard, meaning Gemini Pro has been infused into Google’s Chatbot. Previously, Bard was not so accurate and correct with its answer to users’ queries. However, with Gemini Pro, it is expected that Bard will get as good as ChatGPT.

To use Gemini Pro on your PC and smartphone, you need access to Bard. You can access it by following these steps.

  • Open Bard’s website (bard.google.com) on your browser.
  • On the website, tap on a blue button that says “Try Bard now.”
  • After that, you need to sign in to Bard with your current Google account.
  • Note that if you have a Google Workspace account, you might not be able to access Bard.
  • To prevent that, you should sign in with your personal Google account.

To use Gemini Nano on smartphones, it seems we have to wait for a while. Although, Google has confirmed that the Pixel 8 Pro is now supporting Gemini Nano. However, I am guessing it will take some time to roll out on all the other Android smartphones.
