Google has agreed to pay a sum of $8 billion to have its app store on Samsung’s smartphone.
No matter what smartphone we use, Apple or Android, Google is our go-to browser. Am I right? Most people use Google primarily as it is the key browser on most smartphones and even other devices. It cannot be a sheer coincidence that big competitive brands choose Google, sometimes even over their in-house browsers, and give it all the fame. Right? Because it’s business and in business, everyone falls for money.
Coming to the point, sometime back we heard how Apple and Google have a hefty deal to make Google their primary browser. Now, a Samsung executive has confirmed that Google has a million-dollar deal with it too.
Samsung is one of the biggest Smartphone companies in the world. Just like most Android smartphones, Google’s services such as the app store, assistant, search engine, and other services are the default options on Samsung’s smartphones. During the currently ensuing Google vs Epic Games trial, it was revealed that Google paid billions of dollars to get this done.

Further, Google’s Vice President for Partnerships, James Kolotouros revealed how Google signed deals with Samsung and many other smartphone companies to make the Google App Store readily available on their devices. Out of these deals, half of the money that Google earns through them comes from Samsung users, as revealed during the trial. Kolotouros also shared how Google had planned to share the revenue it generates from listing its Play Store with the smartphone makers, according to a Bloomberg report.
Reports further revealed that Google has agreed to pay a sum of $8 billion ( approximately ₹66,500 crore) to have its app store on Samsung’s smartphones, along with Samsung’s own app store.
Not just Samsung, Alphabet CEO Sunder Pichai recently revealed about its payments to Apple for listing Google as the default alongside its in-house Safari.

I know you might have a question as to why they are revealing their business deals. Epic v/s Google case is currently on trial. Epic is trying to find evidence and build a case against the Google Play Store. Epic claims that Google established its Play Store and earned a load of profit, which according to it was over $12 billion (approximately ₹99,700 crore) in 2021. Epic claims that they did this by stopping the spread of alternative, or third-party app stores.
Now let’s see how this case uncovers.
