Google doodle celebrates London 2012 Olympics
Olympics 2012 kicks off in London today! Google celebrates the mega sporting event with an innovative doodle on its home page.
The doodle features five young athletes on a track holding the five letters of Google’s logo. The athletes belong to different sports, including football, basketball, javelin throw, fencing, sprint and swimming. Take a look at today’s doodle below:
Clicking on the doodle directs the visitor to the Google search on the ‘London 2012 Opening Ceremony’. On the right hand side of the search page, Google is promoting the official website for the London games. The panel also features schedule of the event and latest posts on Google’s social networking website – Google .
That’s not all, Mozilla is also celebrating the Olympics, as it has placed an animated image on its home page of the Firefox browser. Unlike the Google doodle, the Firefox image isn’t clickable.
The 2012 Olympic Games is the 30th modern Olympic Games and is scheduled to be held between July 27, 2012 and August 12, 2012. More than 10,500 athletes across 204 countries are participating in the 302 events in 26 sports. Interestingly, it seems London has become the first city to host the modern Olympic games thrice. Earlier, the city had hosted the games in 1908 and 1948.
