Google today greets users with a virtual Rubik's Cube doodle, which also lets users to post results via social networking websites.
Google is today celebrating 40th anniversary of one of the best selling puzzles of all time, Rubik’s cube, with a dedicated doodle on its homepage. Unlike the static doodles, the new doodle replicates Rubik’s cube, letting you spin, rotate and solve the puzzle.
Clicking on the doodle, the virtual cube expands. You can use your mouse to solve the puzzle. At the bottom of the doodle, Google gives you a direct link to search more on 40th anniversary of Rubik’s cube.
There’s a tutorial on how to play the puzzle as well. Moreover, users can share the game via social networking sites – Google plus, Facebook and Twitter and via e-mail as well. Rubik’s Cube, a 3-D combination puzzle, was invented in 1974 by Hungarian professor of architecture ErnÅ‘ Rubik. Originally called the Magic Cube, the puzzle was licensed by Rubik to be sold by Ideal Toy Corp. in 1980.
