The latest Beta version of Chrome has started showing support for the WebVR framework.
Google is soon going to have you browsing websites on Chrome in virtual reality. The latest Beta version of Chrome has started showing support for the WebVR framework, which will allow Chrome users to browse VR using any of the supported headsets like Cardboard or Samsung Gear VR.
WebVR is an experimental javascript API that gives access to VR devices in your browser. Currently, WebVR is available on Firefox nightly and Samsung Internet. Those who have purchased a Samsung Gear VR would have experienced browsing in virtual reality.
While majority of websites have yet not added support for VR for their platforms, with Chrome adding support for VR, one can only expect more VR ready websites going forward. It is Google’s aim is to not only show WebVR ready websites in VR, but also allow normal websites to be used in virtual reality.
