Google has introduced “Assistant with Bard” at its Made by Google event. Assistant with Bard is a personal assistant powered by generative AI. It combines Bard’s generative and reasoning capabilities with Assistant’s personalised help. It will be accessible in the coming months on Android and iOS mobile devices. For those who are unaware, Bard is an AI chatbot which Google launched earlier this year.
You will be able to interact with “Assistant with Bard” through text, voice or images, and it can even help take actions for you, the tech giant said in a blogpost on October 4.

In order to be a more personalised helper, Assistant with Bard will be integrated with some of the commonly used Google services, such as Gmail and Docs. This will make it even easier to stay on top of the most important things in your life.

Google said that it is working to build a more contextually helpful user experience for Android devices. As an example, the tech giant described a scenario in which a user has taken a photo of their cute puppy and wishes to share it on social media. In this situation, the user will have the option to activate the Assistant with Bard overlay directly on top of the photo and request assistance in crafting a social media post. The Assistant with Bard will use the image as a visual reference, understand the context of the user’s request, and provide the necessary support. This conversational overlay represents a new way to interact with one’s smartphone.
Moreover, Google emphasised that, like both Bard and Assistant, this feature will be built with your privacy in mind, ensuring that you can choose your individual privacy settings.
