Five cameras to help you capture picture perfect images this Diwali
HIGHLIGHTS

This Diwali, gift your family, your friend or even yourself a new camera that will help you shoot great photos of not only the festival of light but everything else too

Diwali is not only the festival of light, but also one where we get together with all our loved ones and dress up like royalty. Every year, Diwali is one evening where everything is practically as colourful as Holi and as such, is an evening worthy of remembering. It is also the perfect evening to capture long lasting memories of your family and you, amidst all the glorious celebration. If you’ve felt that your smartphone wasn’t shooting images good enough, its time to splurge a little and get yourself an advanced point and shoot camera. We recommend an advanced point and shoot over a smartphone because of multiple reasons, the most important being better image quality due to larger sensors and superior lens design. We’ve curated a list of five advanced point and shoot cameras that you can consider right now.

Fujifilm X100F

Fujifilm is typically known either for its X-series mirrorless cameras or the fun Instax cameras, so it’s easy to miss the X100F, which is their fixed lens point and shoot camera. However, this isn’t an ordinary camera. Featuring Fujifilm’s 24-megapixel X-Trans III CMOS sensor and a 23mm f/2.0 lens, the X1000F is an excellent camera for taking photos on Diwali night. The X-Trans sensor is exceptionally good in low light situations and tends to generate noise that looks more like old-school film grain and less like coloured dots that would ruin your photo. However, some people might find the fixed 23mm lens a little limiting, especially on a camera that costs Rs 102,999. Good thing we’ve got more cameras to recommend! You can buy the Fujifilm X100F at a discounted price of Rs 94,990 on both Amazon here and Flipkart here

Sony RX100 Mark 5

The Sony RX100 camera was originally released way back in 2012 and was such a hit with photographers world over that Sony has continued to develop the camera into what is now its sixth iteration. However, we would recommend looking out for the fifth version of the camera, the Sony RX100 Mark 5. This is because the lens on the Mark 5 has an aperture range of f/1.8-2.8 whereas the Mark 6 trades aperture for more zoom. When shooting in low light, you’re better off with a bigger aperture than zoom. The RX100 Mark 5 offers a 1-inch BSI CMOS sensor with a 20-megapixel resolution and a lens that offers a focal range of 24-70mm. The Sony has a track record of great focusing speed and of course, stellar image quality. The Sony RX100 Mark 5 bears an official price tag of Rs 82,490 but can be had at a discounted price of Rs 69,990 on Amazon here.

Canon Powershot G5 X

The Canon Powershot G5 X is an advanced point and shoot camera from Canon that comes with a 1-inch sensor sporting 20-megapixel resolution, very similar to the Sony RX100 Mark5. Where it differs, however, is the lens which offers a focal length of 24-100mm with an aperture of f/1.8-2.8, an additional 30mm of zoom. It is even cheaper than the Sony RX100 Mark 5, but what you lose is the incredibly compact form-factor of the RX100 Mark 5, which can easily slip into your pocket. The Powershot G5 X is pretty bulky in that regard, but it still produces good images. The official price of the G5 X is Rs 53,495, but you can buy it at a discounted price of Rs 46,990 right now on Amazon here and Flipkart here.

Canon Powershot G7 X MarkII

Another Canon camera for your consideration, the G7 X MarkII is another compact shooter from Canon which offers the same lens setup as the Powershot G5 X. The 24-100mm f/1.8-2.8 lens will aid you in shooting better images in low light, especially since its paired with a 1-inch BSI CMOS sensor and Canon’s Digic 7 image processor. While the G5 X allows you to attach accessories such as an external flash to the camera, the G7 X MarkII is designed to be an all-inclusive camera, allowing the company to reduce the size of the camera to a considerable point. The Canon Powershot G7 X MarkII is discounted from its original price of Rs 43,856 right now and can be picked up from Amazon here and Flipkart here for just Rs 41,700.

GoPro Hero7 Black

A complete deviation from the typical point and shoot camera, the GoPro Hero7 Black is the best GoPro the company has made. It has an improved sensor for both photos and video but adds a few neat tricks to its sleeve. The Hypersmooth stabilisation will allow you to shoot some very impressive motion videos without any shake. There are new options in the Time-Lapse mode that will allow you to create some very interesting videos around the festivities. The GoPro Hero7 Black is available on Amazon right now for Rs 37,000 with free accessories and can be bought by going here.
