Facebook suffers a brief outage in India
A number of Facebook users in India faced problem while opening the desktop version of the social networking site this morning. The site is working fine at the moment. According to reports, users saw a DNS error, which means the inability of a browser to find a particular website. However, the mobile and tablet versions were working fine. A lot of users vented their anger over outage via Twitter and the mobile version of the social networking site. Facebook has not officially confirmed the outage yet.
Last week, a number of Facebook users in Europe had reported similar outage. However, the outage was confirmed by Facebook, which then said, “Today we experienced technical difficulties causing the site to be unavailable for a number of users in Europe. The issue has been resolved and everyone should now have access to Facebook. We apologize for any inconvenience.” Facebook, however, did not provide details about what led to the outage.
Unlike Google and RIM, Facebook didn’t have a major outage in some time. Back in September 2012, the social networking site went down for two consecutive days, which was later acknowledged by the social networking site as the “worst outage”. Facebook blamed system change for the outage. Just three months later Facebook suffered a brief outage while updating its Pages.
