Facebook’s pay to ‘Promote’ feature comes to all Pages

Few weeks ago we’d reported that Facebook was testing a new feature, dubbed as Highlight/Promote, which would allow users/brands to pay to promote a post on the social networking site. The paid feature enabled users to make their posts more prominently visible on their friends’ newsfeeds. Well, the feature has now started to show up, but for Pages only.

Page admins will now be able to promote posts via a new button on the Page composer. When users promote a post, it will be shown in the news feeds of more than just the people who like the Page. Friends of the people who have interacted with the post will be able to see the story in their news feeds for up to three days from when the post was first created.

However, these posts will be labelled as “Sponsored” in the news feed. It’s notable that promoted posts will not be shown in the right-hand column of Facebook.

Last time we’d reported that Facebook was charging up to $2 for promoting a post. However, the social network company is seeking a maximum of $100 for promoting a post. With a minimum of $15, Facebook assures an estimated reach to 11,000 users, while $100 gives Pages a reach of up to 70,000. Any post that is less than three days old can be promoted. An admin can also pause and resume promotion anytime. Facebook suggests Page Admins to pin promoted posts to the top of their Page’s Timeline.

Facebook explains how its new Promote feature works in a video. Check it out below:
