Facebook launches two new APIs that will allows news organisations to access to its audience data

Facebook has rolled out a set of tools that will help media and news organizations tap into user comments and display them online or on TV.
The new tools will allow news organizations to  integrate Facebook conversations and will cover data from the past few months as well. Facebook has announced some more tools over the weekend that will increase the social networking giant’s position as a relevant topic simulator too. Facebook has launched the Keyword Insights API and Public Feed API starting now.
The new Keyword Insights API, will allow news organizations and media outlets to  aggregate the total number of posts that are mentioned in a specific term at a given time. The public feed API will gather public posts and display it. A Facebook spokesperson stated in an email, that if a post is not public it will not be shown. She compared the feed to similar services provided by Twitter.

She added, If someone doesn’t want a Facebook message to be used in the news feed, users can select the proper audience for the message while posting it. Facebook added that the access to the APIs will be sent to a limited selection of news organizations like CNN, NBC’s Today Show, Slate, The Economist and Sky TV in the U.K

Facebook has rolled out a series of products over the past few months to track popular conversations on its platform, including embedded posts, hashtags and trending topics.
