Facebook launches bandwidth targeting for high-growth countries
HIGHLIGHTS

Facebook advertisers let advertisers target people based on the network connection — 2G, 3G or 4G — they most often use when accessing Facebook.

Facebook now allows advertisers to target users by their mobile network type 2G, 3G or 4G. The move will allow advertise customise Facebook experience while respecting the device bandwidth and data costs.

Facebook says the move will be highly beneficial for those targeting the high-growth countries,  where limited data plans and feature phones are common. The social network points out the “click to missed call” campaign launched India as an example of building of a product for cultural behaviour.

“Now, we’re working on how we can make the experience of the marketer reaching a person to be the best experience, no matter what kind of device a person is using, from any access speed. This is key across the globe, but especially in countries like Indonesia, Thailand, India, where devices and bandwidth connections are often lowest common denominator,” says the social network in a release.
