As per web traffic measure by web analysts Hitwise, Google.com, the world’s favourite search engine, was beaten for the first time ever by Facebook.com in total US web traffic last week. While Facebook.com has achieved this feat before over weekends and holidays, this marks a major milestone for the site, achieving steady higher US traffic over the course of an entire week.
Ahead by only 0.04%, Facebook.com received 7.07% of all US web traffic, compared to Google.com’s 7.03%. However, this is no small feat, as Google has held the top spot in weekly traffic since late 2007. The study does not take into account any subsidiary sites, such as Gmail or YouTube.
