Facebook allows filters for its On This Day feature
The feature will allow users to filter out the memories that they don't want to remember.
Facebook has added filters to its ‘On this Day’ feature to help users avoid memories they don’t want to be reminded of. The filters let users classify the memories related to specific friend(s) and date(s). They can be set from Facebook’s web version.
Talking about announcement of filters, a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement, "We know that people share a range of meaningful moments on Facebook. As a result, everyone has various kinds of memories that can be surfaced — good, bad, and everything in between. So for the millions of people who use 'On This Day,' we've added these filters to give them more control over the memories they see."
The ‘On this Day’ feature was introduced by Facebook earlier this year. It shows posts and photos posted by a user on a particular day in past. The feature is aimed at bringing back memories to users, but on many occasions it also ends up showing unwanted memories. To set the filters, you need to log-in to your Facebook account and choose ‘On this Day’ from the Apps section on the left hand side. It will take you to the app interface and you need to click on ‘Preferences’ from here. It will give you the option to choose the friend(s) and date(s) to specify the memories about which you don’t want to get reminded.
Facebook has been working on a bunch of new features recently. Last week, it started testing a new feature ‘Reactions’. The feature gives users the freedom to choose from a range of emojis in addition to the ‘Like’ button, for expressing their emotions for a post. The emojis let users to express love, laughter, sadness, and anger etc. They can be accessed by long pressing the Like button. The social networking giant is also working on bringing features to set video clips as profile pictures, temporary profile pic, and changing the mobile layout of one's Profile page. It has already announced the support for 360-degree videos in the News Feed.
