Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and the owner of X (formerly Twitter), is a headline favourite and he is back in the news once again. He has now caused a stir by updating his X profile. Musk has changed his profile name to “Kekius Maximus” and replaced his profile picture with a popular image of “Pepe the Frog”. The Pepe the Frog meme is often used to convey humor and sarcasm.

Musk’s profile picture features Pepe the Frog clad in golden armor and it is holding a video game controller. This specific meme image has trended online for years. It also symbolises satire and internet culture. Musk’s cryptic profile update has sparked speculation about its connection to cryptocurrency.

Further, his profile name, “Kekius Maximus” is also the name of a meme-inspired cryptocurrency token operating on Ethereum and Solana blockchains. Musk has been known to be involved in the crypto chatter online although the link between Musk’s profile update and the cryptocurrency remains unclear. He further added fuel to this by posting on X. His tweet read, “Kekius Maximus will soon reach level 80 in hardcore PoE”. He was referring to the popular game Path of Exile.

Musk has always been involved in cryptocurrency like I mentioned previously. Recently, he was named to lead the “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) by the U.S. President-elect Donald Trump. Analysts saw this as a nod to the Dogecoin cryptocurrency Musk often promotes.

This is also not the first time that Musk has changed his profile. In January 2023, he had tweeted, “Changed my name to Mr. Tweet, now Twitter won’t let me change it back.”
