What if I told you that humans can now control their devices just by thinking about it? Yes, it’s possible now. It feels like living in the future, where technology has gotten advanced so much that it’s being used to treat people—an idea we’ve seen only in movies. Personally, I feel it’s like having a superpower, isn’t it? Now, the question is, how is it possible? Well, Elon Musk is the man behind this. This could be another major achievement for him, following Tesla EVs and SpaceX. Elon Musk’s neurotechnology company, Neuralink, has successfully implanted the first brain chip inside a human. Let’s delve into it further!
Musk announced this news on X (formerly Twitter) that Neuralink has successfully implanted a brain chip called ‘Link’ in the first human. He also revealed that the company’s inaugural product will be named ‘Telepathy.’ Providing details about the patient, Elon Musk added, ‘The first human received an implant from @Neuralink yesterday and is recovering well.’ Additionally, he stated on Twitter that ‘Initial results show promising neuron spike detection.’

Now the question is who should receive the “Link” implant? Let me tell you that.
Elon Musk posted on X that it is initially for those people who have lost their limbs because of quadriplegia. For those who don’t know, Quadriplegia is a specific type of paralysis. This chip is the size of five coins put together and will be implanted inside the patient’s brain. This will help the doctors understand the condition correctly. Apart from that, what’s really crazy is that they can use their smartphones or computers just with their brains. Furthermore, it is also said that the patient has to be at least 22 years old and should have a caretaker if they wish to implant the chip in their brain.

“Enables control of your phone or computer, and through them almost any device, just by thinking. Initial users will be those who have lost the use of their limbs. Imagine if Stephen Hawking could communicate faster than a speed typist or auctioneer. That is the goal,” Musk added in another post on X.
Well, I am still in awe that humans can now do such amazing things. However, it’s the first human implant so we don’t know its side effects. As great as it sounds, it can also get nasty if things go south. So, let’s hope for the best, and let us know how you like this concept?
