Elon Musk showcased the Optimus humanoid robot, stating it can “do anything you can think of.”

The robot is designed as a versatile assistant and is expected to cost between $20,000 and $30,000.

Musk believes everyone on Earth will want an “Optimus buddy.”

Elon Musk hosted the We, Robot event last night, where the Tesla CEO unveiled plenty of futuristic tech. Musk also promised a fully autonomous taxi to be rolled out in the US soon. Along with that, he also showcased an autonomous minibus named Robovan. One more thing that Elon Musk announced was humanoid robots. This is not the first time he said something about humanoid but this is indeed the first time when he revealed some really surprising details about it. It has been named Optimus, but it really doesn’t look like the Optimus you are thinking about…Optimus Prime? Anyway, Elon Musk mentioned, “It can do anything you can think of.” According to him, it is basically a robot assistant that can be priced between $20,000 and $30,000.

As I mentioned above, Elon Musk announced some surprising facts about the Optimus. Here’s what all he said:

  • “The Optimus will walk amongst you. You’ll be able to walk right up to them, and they will serve drinks.”
  • “I believe this will be the most significant product ever created.”
  • “I think everyone in the 8 billion people on Earth will want an Optimus buddy.”
  • “We didn’t want it to fall on its face.”
  • “It will be cheaper than mass transit. Unsupervised, full self-driving capable cars should be available in Texas and California by next year on the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y for starters. Model S and Cybertruck too.”

Further, at the We, Robot event in Los Angeles, Elon Musk also surprised attendees by unveiling the Tesla Robovan, an autonomous minibus designed for high-density areas. With a futuristic design reminiscent of Tron: Legacy movie, the Robovan features silver metallic sides, black accents, and LED light strips. It can accommodate up to 20 passengers and includes standing space, but notably lacks a steering wheel due to its fully autonomous capabilities.
