Nine-month course from Udacity involves interactive projects in computer vision and robotic controls
Udacity, a popular MOOC provider well known for its industry-oriented Nanodegree courses, has introduced the world’s first Nanodegree course on Self-Driving cars. The 12-week course is divided into 3 terms of 12 weeks each, making the course 9 months long in its entirety. The fee for each term is $800, or roughly INR 54,000.
Udacity has partnered with big names in the automotive industry like Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America, Didi, Otto along with Nvidia to create this curriculum that will allow anyone with an internet connection anywhere in the world to learn the technology that goes behind self-driving cars.

A student who takes the course will get a Project Portfolio in computer vision, deep learning, robotics, and more. The curriculum has been designed with Sebastian Thrun, one of the pioneers of the Self-Driving Car space. Similar to other Nanodegree programs, personalized feedback on projects will also be a part of this course along with coach-supported forums. Successful completion will grant the student a Verified Nanodegree Credential, and potential recruitment opportunities. The average annual salary of a Self-Driving car engineer, according to Paysa is around $233,000, or roughly INR 1.5 crore
Entering students are expected to have prior experience in Python or another scripting language. Additionally, the student should have at least some background in probability and statistics and calculus prior to enrolling. Both these skills also have corresponding courses on Udacity. Also mandatory is a Github handle because all the code will be submitted on Github.
The course is getting a lot of attention and according to Udacity, 1/5th of the total interest generated for this course has been from India. The October 2016 course already has 6723 applicants with only 250 seats available. Head to Udacity for more information.
