The innovations at Computex 2011 just don’t seem to end. In addition to announcing its Atom, Ivy Bridge and Medfield plans, Intel had a section dedicated to showcase its work in the field of Embedded Technology. We came across an Intel booth which was showcasing its use of embedded technology in the field of digital signage.
Just imagine you are at a mall with your friends. Now while they are shopping and trying out new clothes, all you can do is pass time by staring at the LCD screens showing you more products. Wouldn’t it be cool if you could interact with the screen and in turn get to know more about the product.
Intel has dont just that in the demo that we see below. It features the Intel AIM Suite which is a video analytics capability from Intel that can gather viewership metrics such as gender, age and how long a customer has interacted with the product shown on the signage. Not only does this add a novelty factor to the otherwise boring digital signages, but also gives the advertisers hard numbers which will give them an idea of their return on investments. You can also use your smartphones to receive e-coupons with special offers from the advertiser.
