ChatGPT in iPhones is finally live: Apple rolls out iOS 18.2 beta with more AI features
With this new update Apple is enabling users to link OpenAI accounts and monitor their usage.
Users are able to lock focus by double pressing the camera control button and exposure while capturing images.
Moreover, Find My now allows users to share the location of lost items through a “Share Item Location” feature.
Apple has been talking about its Apple Intelligence for a really long time now ever since WWDC in June 2024. It didn’t launch with the iPhone 16 series but now slowly Apple Intelligence features are being rolled out. The first set of Apple Intelligence features was introduced with the iOS 18.1 software update. Now, the Cupertino-based tech giant has rolled out iOS 18.2 beta 2 for developers which unveils more Apple Intelligence features. Here’s everything new that’s coming with it.
The iOS 18.2 beta 2 brings along with it new features such as improved Siri, Camera Control, Find My, and even localised English support. This upgrade also brings the much-awaited collaboration between OpenAI and Apple, ChatGPT integration in Siri can also be experienced with this update. Apart from this, it also unveils features like Genmoji for customizable avatars, Image Playground, and expanded visual intelligence tools.

ChatGPT usage tracking: With this new update Apple is enabling users to link OpenAI accounts and monitor their usage. A new settings option has been added that displays ChatGPT query limits. You can even upgrade to premium versions from here if needed. Also, ChatGPT in Siri will be powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4o AI model.
Camera Control update: Apple has added a new Camera Control button on its iPhones this year. With the new update, users can now double-press to lock focus and exposure while capturing images. Also, users can adjust the double-click speed with options like “default,” “slow,” and “slower.”
Find My sharing: With the new update, Find My allows users to share the location of lost items through a “Share Item Location” feature. A link will be generated and can be sent to non-Apple users. The link shares the item’s location and the owner’s contact information for helping in the recovery. The link expires after one week or once the item is found.
Going by media reports, Apple will roll out a stable iOS 18.2 in early December and then a public beta can be rolled out the following week.
