OpenAI revealed a new feature on its blog on Tuesday that enables users to turn off their chat history. When disabled, data supplied through ChatGPT will not be processed to enhance the model, instead, discussions are stored in OpenAI’s system for 30 days before being erased.
The only method to stop your information from being exchanged with the model in the past was to opt out via a form that was mentioned in one of OpenAI’s posts regarding its privacy policy. Turning off data sharing has become considerably simpler and more readily available.

After a recent privacy violation and an upsurge in ethical and legal questions regarding the way ChatGPT data is handled, the revised privacy setting was implemented. Private and financial user information was momentarily made available to other users due to the breach. Due to ChatGPT’s insufficient user data security, Italy prohibited it in accordance with the stringent General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) rules of Europe.

How to disable chat history on ChatGPT
Click on your user account name in ChatGPT and then select settings to modify your account settings.
If the “Data Controls” are hidden, click “Show” in the popup that appears.
By doing so, a toggle labelled Chat History & Training will become visible. To turn it off, tap the toggle.
