CES 2018: Dell unveils 15-inch XPS 2-in-1 laptop, InfinityEdge monitors and more

Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 feature the latest Intel G-series processors with on-board discrete Radeon graphics

After launching it's all new XPS 13, Dell took the covers off of its new range of XPS 15 2-in-1 laptops at CES. These new convertible laptops are powered by Intel’s latest G-series processors. The new XPS 15 comes in two variants. You can opt for either the Intel Core i5-8305G or the i7-8705G. Both are the quad-core processors and offer discrete class Radeon RX Vega M GL graphics onboard. The laptop will be available in 8GB and 16GB DDR2400 RAM options with storage options starting from 128GB SSD going all the way up to a 1TB PCIe SSD. The XPS 15 2-in-1 will be available in either 1080p or 2160p resolution, with the touchscreen option available for both. Dell has changed the position of the front camera and instead of being on the side, it is now in the middle of the bottom bezel. For ports, the machine offers 2 x USB Type-C 3.1 ports with Thunderbolt support in addition to 3 x USB Type-A 3.0 ports. Dell claims the large 75Whr battery will provide 15 hours of battery life on the FHD variant of the laptop. The laptop weighs 1.97 kilograms. It will start shipping in spring of 2018 and prices will start at $1299.99

Dell also introduced two new ultrathin monitors at CES this year, namely S2419HM and S2719DM. The smaller of the two is the S2419HM, which is a 23.8-inch monitor with a resolution of 1920 x 1080p. Dell claims that the monitor can reproduce >99% sRGB. At its thinnest, both monitors are 5.5mm thin and both showcase thin bezels, hence the name ‘InfinityEdge’. Both monitors have a peak brightness of 600 nits. The 27-inch (S2719DM) carries a resolution of 2560 x 1440p. Dell claims both monitors support HDR content for a "cinema colour experience". The monitors will hit the market (US) starting January 30th. The 23.8-inch model is priced at $299.99 and the 27-inch variant is priced at $499.99

Besides this, Dell announced also updated it's 5000 and 7000 latitude series of laptops. These new machines will be available in multiple screen sizes ranging from 12.5-inch, all the way up to 15-inch FHD versions with touch support. You will have an option to choose between 7th gen Intel Core i5 or 8th gen Intel Core i7 processors. There are also multiple options available for storage and RAM. As for graphics, the 7000 series will only be available with integrated graphics, but the 5000 series will be available with NVIDIA MX130 option as well. Both laptops are now available in the US market with pricing starting from $779 for the Latitude 5000 series. The Dell Latitude 7000 series will start from $1049.
