CELL PHONES

Nokia N80
Specifications
OS: Symbian S60 3rd Edition; weight: 134 grams; 262K (18-bit) colour; resolution: 352 x 416; 3.0 MP camera; 40 MB internal memory; MiniSD

Our Verdict
The changing cell phone market has seen a slew of models since our test way back in June this year. With a good 3.0 MP camera, excellent MP3 playback, and a large, clear screen the N80 is our Feature-Rich cell phone of choice. With one of the best screens we’ve come across (352 x 416 pixels), you’ll make small excuses to stare at that screen…we did!

This quad-band phone is based on Symbian’s latest, 3rd edition of their S60 9.1 OS, and has all the important features like Wi-Fi, EDGE, and 3G. Nokia strikes gold with a good balance between flaunt value and functionality.

Our Verdict

The winner of our “feature-rich” category in June this year receives a healthy price drop, finally bringing it under the Rs 10,000 mark. The K750i now trounces the other mid-range cell phones. With a great-sounding music player, a good 2.0 MP camera with auto-focus, and a wide range of features found on costlier phones, it’s hard not to recommend this one to anyone looking for a cheaper phone big on features. All these features are crammed into a small form factor, making the K750i irresistible.

Budget Phones
Nokia 6070

Specifications
Weight: 88 grams; 65K colours (16-bit), resolution: 128 x 160; VGA camera (.3 MP); EDGE support

Our Verdict
Successor to the Nokia 6030, the 6070 sports a very similar look to the model it replaces, while adding a tiny amount of onboard memory. The slightly larger, higher-resolution screen will be welcome, while the inbuilt FM is a nice touch for those on a budget. We like the 6070 because it’s simple and sturdy-very suitable for those who need a cell phone but don’t want to pay extra for features they might not use.
