Carl Pei mocks Lenovo for imitating Nothing Ear 1’s design in its new ThinkPlus earphone.

The new Lenovo ThinkPlus TWS has transparent design much like the Nothing Ear 1.

However, fans point out how Nothing product designs have been inspired by others.

Carl Pei shares images of Lenovo ThinkPlus on Twitter with the caption: Nice headphones @Lenovo. He appears to be mocking Lenovo for copying Nothing Ear 1’s design. However, this started a thread wherein people started posting how Nothing’s Ear 1 and Phone 1 designs are imitations of JBL and Apple respectively.

Here’s the Carl Pei tweet:

But what about the Nothing Product Designs?

Well, even the regular folks out there would find some design cues in the Nothing Phone 1 that’s borrowed from the recent Apple iPhones. Yes, we are referring to the squared-off design. However, to Nothing’s credit, the Phone 1 stands out from the pack thanks to its glittering LED glyph interface on the back. So, it isn’t a mere copy.

Also, Carl Pei himself has acknowledged the Apple products and even proclaimed to be an ecosystem alternative to Apple. During the Truth event earlier this year he said, “From the very beginning, the Nothing vision has been a world without barriers between people and technology. What does that really mean? it means this, we are building the most compelling alternative to Apple. If you want products that connect and work seamlessly together, the only choice is Apple”.

But unlike Apple, Nothing’s aim is to create an open and diverse product ecosystem, one where products from different brands can work together and consumer gets the choice to pick the brand they want. Nothing is clearly trying to bring some of those products to the market. We already have a phone and an earphone from the brand.

Now even though both of these products have amassed a lot of eyeballs, largely thanks to clever marketing and catchy designing, it is the latter that is contentious. This is what the Twitterati reaction also shows. Like some user points out how JBL Tune 225 Ghost Edition had brought a transparent design before Nothing Ear 1.
