Canon EOS R50 V mirrorless vlogging camera and new RF lenses launched in India

Canon has introduced the EOS R50 V, an interchangeable lens camera, and two new RF lenses: the RF-S 14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ and the RF 20mm F1.4L VCM in India. With the increasing demand for high-quality video content, the EOS R50 V directly competes with models from Sony and Panasonic, targeting vloggers and video professionals.

Canon EOS R50 V Features

The EOS R50 V marks the debut of the Canon V-series, designed specifically for video production. Unlike its predecessors, the camera is designed without a viewfinder, making it lightweight and suitable for prolonged shooting.

A vertical shooting tripod socket, an auto-rotating display, and an ergonomic button layout enhance its usability for social media creators and bloggers.

The camera features a 24.2MP APS-C sensor, which is similar to Super 35mm cinema sensors, and supports Canon Log 3 for advanced post-production. It offers uncropped 4K 30p, cropped 4K 60p, and Full HD 120p recording options.

Additionally, its Dual Pixel CMOS AF II ensures precise autofocus performance, making it ideal for dynamic video shoots. Livestreaming support is enabled via USB-C, HDMI, or wireless connections, and the camera also features a 3-mic noise reduction system along with 24-bit 4-channel LPCM audio recording.

Moreover, professional workflow features such as XF-HEVC S/XF-AVC S recording formats and LUT support, typically found in higher-end EOS R models, further enhance the camera’s versatility.

Canon RF-S 14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ Features

Accompanying the EOS R50 V is the RF-S 14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ, Canon’s first RF lens with built-in power zoom. This compact, lightweight lens provides a versatile 14-30mm focal range, equivalent to 22.4-48mm on an APS-C sensor.

It features a built-in power zoom mechanism with 15-speed settings, offering smooth and consistent zoom control, making it ideal for video work. The lens also boasts 5 stops of optical image stabilization, ensuring stable footage even during handheld shooting.

Additionally, remote zoom control is supported via the Camera Connect app, allowing creators to adjust zoom settings wirelessly. It is designed for smooth and stable video recording, particularly for handheld and gimbal-mounted shooting.

Canon RF 20mm F1.4L VCM Ultra-Wide Hybrid Lens Features

Canon has also introduced the RF 20mm F1.4L VCM, it’s widest prime lens in its hybrid series. This professional-grade lens combines a fast f/1.4 aperture with an ultra-wide 20mm focal length, making it highly suitable for low-light photography and high-resolution video production.

The lens features a VCM (Voice Coil Motor) autofocus system for smooth and silent focusing, ensuring minimal noise disruption during video recording. It also ensures reduced focus breathing and maintains stable compositions when adjusting focus.

To enhance optical performance, Canon has integrated Blue Spectrum Refractive (BR) optics to minimize chromatic aberration, ensuring sharp and clear images. Additionally, a clickless iris ring allows seamless aperture adjustments, providing greater control for filmmakers.

The lens is also capable of supporting 8K video resolution, making it an excellent choice for professional cinematographers and photographers seeking premium wide-angle performance.
