This camera is the Canon’s top-of-the-line in it’s A series, optimized for casual and hobby photographers. It provides a mix of some high power features and simplicity of use. However this also means that sacrifices on some of the advanced controls that may be attractive to a professional photographer.
This model is a successor to the A720, and manages to provide features that are at par or better, despite a 25% reduction in size. Although it lacks a viewfinder, it has a large 3.0’’ LCD display to make up. Its 10MP resolution (with a maximum resolution of 3648×2736) is also more than adequate for its targeted audience.
It provides all the basic features you’d expect form any sufficiently advanced digital camera these days, such as Image stabilization, face detection, auto exposure, etc. It has quite a powerful zoom of 6x optical and an additional 4x digital. It uses canon’s DIGIC III image processing technology for better image quality.
Overall this camera will satisfy the needs of anyone looking for a powerful featured camera, without too many hassles. It uses AA cells which are easily available and cheap. So if you are looking for a point and click camera which provides more than just the basic features, this camera is a good buy.
