Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched a new broadband plan called Fibre Basic. The BSNL Fibre Basic plan costs Rs. 499 (excluding taxes) and offers more than 3TB of data, i.e., over 3,000 GB. Interestingly, the company released this plan earlier but discontinued it shortly after for unknown reasons. Now, it has returned with a revised price and an added list of benefits. Let's find out what the BSNL Fibre Basic plan offers, how much it costs and other details.
To begin with, customers who pay Rs. 499 + taxes will get 3.3TB of FUP data monthly. Unless users exhaust the 3.3TB of FUP data, they should get a speed of 40Mbps. However, after utilising the gigantic allowance, the speed will come down to 4Mbps.
In other words, BSNL is offering unlimited data at an affordable price. Further, users get unlimited voice calling to any network and a 90% discount for the first month, meaning that the plan's effective cost for the first month remains Rs. 50 + taxes.
To attract new customers, BSNL has also released a discounted version of the Fibre Basic. The plan is called Fibre Basic Neo and offers all the benefits mentioned above. However, there is a catch. Although the plan costs Rs. 449 per month (excluding taxes), users can only use the plan for this price for the first six months, after which the plan will automatically be converted to the Fibre Basic plan, which costs Rs. 499 per month.
Doing the maths, one would realise that both plans ask for the same amount. The only difference is that one offers a discount upfront in the first month, and the other offers the same discount but in a tenure of six months. Both the Fibre Basic and the Fibre Basic Neo plans are live and can be purchased through the company's official website
