BGMI Banned In India And Removed From App Stores
BGMI has been removed from Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Google cites a government order for delisting BGMI from its app store.
We will find out the reason(s) for banning BGMI.
Update: Why BGMI was banned and what is Krafton's official statement.
On the evening of Thursday, July 28, we were surprised by the breaking news of the BGMI ban. Battlegrounds Mobile India was suddenly removed from Google Play and Apple App Store. Upon further digging, we have learned that this was done on the order of the Indian Government. The details are scanty and there is no official word from the Government yet. Still, here's what we know so far.
BGMI Ban By Indian Government
It’s been just over a year since Krafton brought back PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) in a new avatar called Battlegrounds Mobile Inda (BGMI). Just earlier this month, the game celebrated its first anniversary with a special login event. The last we reported of the game was that it banned 45000 players for cheating. Alas, weeks later, we have this sad news for its fans the game has been pulled out of the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
This is what Google said to Techcrunch about the BGMI removal from Play Store:
“On receipt of the order, following established process, we have notified the affected developer and have blocked access to the app that remained available on the Play Store in India.”
Meanwhile, Apple is yet to comment.
As for the game developer Krafton, it is still figuring out and “clarifying” the reason for this.
Those who have the game installed can play it fine for the moment. The game servers aren't down, it seems.
This is a developing story and as such we will keep you posted.
Really comes as a shocker because the Growth of Esports in India has been tremendous.
All will come down to a stop if something happens to BGMI(Top esports game in India)
Trust will be broken.
People who HOPED, will remain hopeless.
I hope you look into the matter @GoI_MeitY— MortaL (@Mortal04907880) July 28, 2022
