There are a variety of fighting games to pick from. While they all may seem similar at first glance, each has its own charm and allure. While some feature impressive gameplay mechanics and challenging combos, others have a good story and make games accessible to all players. Fighting games are a good way to spend time with your friends if you’re having a couch gaming session. You can set up custom offline tournaments in many of these games and play to your heart’s content. On PS5, most of these games run smooth and offer good gaming experiences.
Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate Edition (Free PS5 Upgrade)
A favourite for many gamers, this one has great nostalgic value, and it comes with a modern take. The graphics are excellent, with impressive environments, combo animations, and absolutely bloody and brutal combats. The gameplay feels crisp and tight. The game has a fairly straightforward control scheme making it easy for new players to get a feel, while the multi-button combos can take years of practice and mastering. There is a good variety in the fighters that you can pick- some have elemental damage while others possess superhuman strength. This is the PS4 model of the game, but players with it are eligible for a free PS5 upgrade that will provide higher resolution and increased frame rates.
Soul Calibur 6 (PS4)
This is a game that is a spin on classic fighter games, and a lot of it has to do with the fantasy-like setting of the game. In the game, stunning your enemy, slowing them down, and taking advantage of the 3D space to roll around is what counts. Character special moves, certain combos and buffs enhance your ability to do so. The game has good gameplay mechanics, which may not gel with the player at once, but can be rewarding over the long run. The game features a vast roster of fighters, including fan favourites like Geralt and Yoshimitsu. It also has a very cinematic feel to it.
Tekken 7 PS4
Fast-paced combat, quick combos and action-packed fights have always defined Tekken. Tekken 7 introduces new characters, skills, game mechanics and combos. There are new things to explore with every fighter, and each of them has a unique set of attacks that players will have to learn to use. It is quite accessible as well, as basic combos and dodging can be performed with ease. Incidentally, if you’re looking for a story, the game has deep lore and character backgrounds, and the story takes new twists and turns in this rendition of the game.
Street Fighter V: Champion Edition (PS4)
The game features iconic gaming characters such as Ryu, one of the first-ever fighting game characters, Chun-Li and many more. With Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, you get access to the entire roster, along with new characters who blend into the story. While that’s not the main aspect of the game, it is well fleshed out. There are several single and multiplayer challenges for players of all levels, and thanks to the variety of fighters, players can find a character that suits their style. It has smooth animations and quick gameplay, which tests your reflexes.
