HIGHLIGHTS

Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for Zenfone 3 Zoom brings portrait mode, RAW capture support and improved camera performance. The update also brings enhanced performance and UI improvements.

Asus has started rolling out Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for Zenfone 3 Laser and Zenfone 3 Zoom smartphones. The update for Zenfone 3 Laser is arriving as version V30.41.12.1, while the update for Zenfone 3 Zoom is packaged as version V20.31.49.2.

With version V20.31.49.2, Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom gets new camera features and some native Nougat features. The Zenfone 3 Zoom's camera now supports portrait mode similar to the one found on Apple's iPhone 7 Plus. The changelog also notes improved camera performance and RAW capture support alongside fixes to some known bugs, reports Android Police. Other changes for Zenfone 3 Zoom's software includes Google Now and Google Assistant built into the ZenUI launcher. There is also a customisable quick setting that removes third-party apps.

The Asus Zenfone 3 Laser, on the other hand, received Android 7.0 Nougat in April. With Android 7.1.1 Nougat update, the smartphone gets minor improvements in the form of UI enhancements and bug fixes. Android Soul notes that the update is being gradually rolled out in the form of OTA updates and will take some time to reach every other device.

Asus is expected to unveil the Zenfone 4 series with six different versions next month. With the Nougat update arriving for Zenfone 3 series smartphones, it is clear that Zenfone 4 will launch with the latest version of Nougat if not Android O.
