Apple will go full power on manufacturing iPads and AirPods soon in India: Report
Apple is hoping to increase the production of its other products in India.
This possibly could come amidst the growing geopolitical tensions with China.
Apple has reportedly shared ambitious plans for India over the next 2-3 years.
Over the past year, we saw that Apple shifted its focus from China towards India and increased the production and manufacturing of iPhones in India. This also created a meme fest on the internet, most of which had racist connotations to it. And now it seems that Apple is hoping to increase the production of its other products too in India. After iPhones, we can get made-in-India iPads and Air Pods too.
This possibly could come amidst the growing geopolitical tensions with China. Even the Indian government is trying hard to bring the business indoors. Earlier, Apple was in partnership with China’s BYD for manufacturing. Now, it seems that things didn’t work out well there and hence it is looking for a new manufacturing partner in India.

A senior government official told Moneycontrol, “BYD was almost ready to set up the factory for iPads in India, but clearance was a problem. The situation has changed significantly now. We are trying to help Apple expand further over the next two to three years. There will be substantial growth.”
The official further added that not only is the Indian government encouraging Apple to manufacture laptops and desktops locally in the coming years, but the tech giant itself has reportedly shared ambitious plans for India over the next 2-3 years.

Speaking of iPad manufacturing, Apple was focusing on Vietnam for this until last year. But now, it seems that the focus has shifted towards India. If reports are to be believed, Apple aims to increase iPhone production and plans to start producing components for AirPods’ wireless charging cases in the country. Production of True Wireless Stereo (TWS) AirPods is also expected to begin in India early next year.
A Hindustan Times report suggests that Apple’s long-term goal is to manufacture a quarter of all its iPhones in India over the next 3-4 years, up from the current 14 percent. And all of this is being done to reduce its dependence on China.
