Apple is under scrutiny, and this time the blow is pretty heavy. As you might be aware, a lawsuit has been filed against the California-based tech company by the US Department of Justice (DOJ). The US govt lawsuit calls out Apple’s unfair trade practices to maintain its monopoly in the smartphone market. I have already discussed what the lawsuit is all about in my previous story. I am now going to discuss with you how this landmark case can affect Apple’s global standings in the future as we can already see certain repercussions.

It hasn’t been a long time since the lawsuit was slapped on the company but it has already seen a 4% dip in its shares. This is a high-profile case and it might take years to come to a conclusion and then the repercussions to see the light of the day. However, if the government ends up winning the case, then that would force the company to change its current working methods which could even end up breaking it.
Speaking about the lawsuit, the tech giant said, “We believe this lawsuit is wrong on the facts and the law, and we will vigorously defend against it.” It further said that this lawsuit sets a “dangerous precedent, empowering the government to take a heavy hand in designing people’s technology.” The company is all set to fight this with all its strength.

If the case goes through, it might dethrone Apple and take away its “monopoly”. We will have to wait and see how this case turns around but if it doesn’t move in the company’s favour then the company will have to change its policies which helped it gain approximately a fifth of the world’s smartphone sales. What we know now is that the DOJ won’t let Apple off the hook easily.
