It seems like Apple’s AI obsession has just begun. Apple is reportedly working on introducing a more advanced version of Siri. With this, Apple’s AI assistant will compete with AI tools like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. He further shared in his report that internally this new version of Siri is being called LLM Siri. It will be able to leverage large language models (LLMs) to enable conversational interactions and handle complex tasks more efficiently.
This Siri will be more powerful than the one coming now with Apple Intelligence. It can debut as early as 2026. It will have capabilities such as text writing, summarisation, and improved third-party app interactions through expanded use of App Intents.

The report further revealed that Apple is currently testing this technology on iPhones, iPads, and Macs through a standalone app. Apple plans to integrate the system into iOS 19 and macOS 16. The same is internally codenamed Luck and Cheer—with an official unveiling expected in 2025. However, like I said the features may not reach consumers until spring 2026.
In the meantime, Apple will add ChatGPT to its Apple Intelligence platform next month. With this Siri will be able to use ChatGPT’s powers in places where it lacks. But Apple is really going strong on AI. Even job postings from Apple hint at this. It is looking for experts in conversational AI to redefine the capabilities of Siri.
