Apple is going to go big on AI with its upcoming iOS 18.

We are only two months down in 2024 and we have seen tech companies go crazy with artificial intelligence. As the year proceeds, the AI boom is expected to take over even more and experts are even calling 2024 the year of AI. Now when the entire tech industry is singing the AI song, how will Apple sit back and watch? Industry reports revealed that even Apple is going big on AI with its upcoming iOS 18 launch. If you can recall, I had spoken about how Apple is going to go big on AI with its upcoming iOS 18. Bloomberg even called it Apple’s biggest iOS update ever. Previously, Mark Gurman had even revealed that Apple has already made its own Large Language Model (LLM) system. This is called AppleGPT.

This works on “Ajax” on which Apple has been working since 2022. Various machine learning programs held by Apple share it as their foundation. This same Ajax framework will form the basis for future AI developments that Apple does across its platforms, as per a report by 9to5Mac. It has even found evidence of Apple’s work on new AI and large language model technology in iOS 17.4.
To further the claims, in a rare occurrence, Apple CEO Tim Cook himself informed that Apple is spending a “tremendous amount of time and effort” on artificial intelligence technologies, and the company is “excited to share the details of our ongoing work in that space later this year,” during one of Apple’s recent earnings call. This is enough evidence to say that Apple is indeed going the AI way just like its competitors.
